COROLLA LIGHTHOUSE

The lighthouse has been active since December 1, 1875, the Currituck Beach Lighthouse lights the sky on the North Carolina coast between the Cape Henry light to the north and to Bodie Island south. The lighthouse remains unpainted today exposing the thousands of bricks used to form the structure. Automated in 1939, the night beacon still flashes at 20-second intervals to warn ships of barrier islands along the coast.
